A report on Gospel outreach program jointly organised by Churches of Alperton, Wembley

Jesus beckons Wembley…

Turn to me for I have redeemed you” (Isaiah 44:22)

Sunday 21st September, 2008 between 3pm and 5pm Jesus beckoned the Ealing Road, Wembley. As per the leading of the Holy Spirit the Churches of Alperton area, Wembley got together in obedience to have a Gospel outreach programme. It was a united effort of Churches of Alperton to spread the Good News of Jesus - the Word of love, freedom, deliverance, healing and salvation – proclaiming the reign of Jesus alone.

The Churches of Alperton namely the Methodist Church, Alperton Baptist Church, Wembley Gospel Hall, St. James Church, The Church of God of Prophesy, Living Waters Foursquare Church and Gujarati Christian Fellowship UK (GCFUK) got together in this outreach programme. It was an expression of Christian unity & solidarity as a universal body of Christ.

The event included songs of worship by choirs from different Churches with diverse languages which included English, Indian-Gujarati, Hindi and Tamil languages. It was indeed heartening to see kids of Church of God of Prophesy bringing the sacrifices of praise with their wonderful songs. Moreover, Rev. Stanley Barker of Methodist Church, Rev. John Root of the St. James Church shared the Word of God in English language, whilst Pastor Renato Melo of the Alperton Baptist Church was 'instrumental' with his music skills.

GCFUK actively took part with its members and choir in the event. As the event progressed hymns were sung in Gujarati and Hindi by the choir of GCFUK and Mr. Davidson Solanki brought the Word of God in Gujarati to which the Gujarati speaking population walking by the Ealing Road was enthralled as many stopped by to look and hear what was being said. Throughout this event tracts in Gujarati, Hindi, Tamil and English were distributed to the pedestrians of Ealing Road as they stopped by to listen and observe what was 'this all' going on the Ealing Road!

Last, Pastor Surekha Hulugalle with his spontaneous Spirit filled attitude gave his testimony and message of Jesus Christ and invited people to pray, which was translated in Gujarati by Mr. Davidson Solanki. Through out the event, many stopped by and eagerly heard the Good News and some of them came forward to know more about Jesus. The members of the respective Churches welcomed these returning lost souls with open hearts and prayed with them and invited them to their congregations including the Gujarati brothers and sisters to GCFUK's monthly meetings.

All in all the entire event was a success with all glory to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ without whose infinite Grace this event would have been unimaginable. For all the success, credit goes to God for equipping Christian men and women of the Wembley congregations including the Gujarati speaking congregation of GCFUK to come boldly proclaiming their confidence in Jesus.

All glory & honour belongs to God in Christ Jesus our Saviour – Amen!

About Christianity

Who are Christians?

Christians are people who follow Jesus Christ. This requires a commitment of belief and faith. This faith then leads to the following of a lifestyle that Christians believe has been set in place by Jesus.

The teachings of Jesus and what Jesus did are set down for Christians in the New Testament of the Bible.

What is the Trinity?

Christians believe that there is one God. However God has been experienced as three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This does not divide God in any way but is a humble statement of the way that we have experienced God. God exists in the three persons all at the same time.

Who is Jesus?

Jesus has many titles. Some of the more familiar are: Christ, Son of God, Saviour. Each has great meaning for Christians.

However the life and witness of Jesus is of paramount important for the Christian faith.

Jesus is God taking human form so we can stand a better chance of finding God.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. Christians believe that they experience God as the Holy Spirit who lives in each Christian. The Holy Spirit gives strength and gifts to enable Christians to do God's work.

What is sin?

Sin is anything that is against God. If we do something that God does not want us to do then we sin. Christians believe that everyone (including themselves) sins and is in need of forgiveness from God.

How does one find forgiveness?

God has tried to make this as easy as possible for us. We do not deserve God's forgiveness but he gives it anyway.

It's important to understand that forgiveness is not earned it is a free gift from God (this is called grace).

Christians believe that the death and resurrection of Jesus play a vital part in the forgiveness of God.

This is so important that Christians celebrate this event every time they meet. The last supper is remembered on a regular basis.

What is Easter?

Easter is a time when Christians remember the last week, the death of, and resurrection (rising from the dead) of Jesus. It is a high point in the Christian year.

What is Christmas?

Christmas is a time when Christians remember the birth of Jesus.

It is Jesus that makes Christianity unique.

Christianity looks to who Jesus is first and then follows His teaching because of who He is. This is the opposite of most religions.

Christians also have a unique perspective on the grace of God and that forgiveness cannot be earned but is freely given by God.
