Gujarati Church Sunday service - 14 June 2009
“Choosing between worldliness and Godliness…”
Approximately 80 members participated in this worship service. Holy Communion was ministered during the service.
In a special thanksgiving opportunity many members came forward to give their testimonies giving thanks to God for what God has done in their lives - this brought encouragement to all who witnessed these testimonies giving thanks and praises to God.
Special prayers were offered for - members who celebrated their birthdays and marriage anniversaries in June; friends who were home bound suffering from illnesses or had lost someone near and dear in their families.
Rev Immanuel Christian drawing from the testimonies and the character of Ruth in the Bible brought an uplifting message challenging the congregation to do a self-evaluation of what our responses would be to situation in life where we have an option to wait on God and conducting ourselves in a Godly way or give up hope and choose our own way which God doesn’t desire for us.
Hereby the essence of the message was are we willing to walk on the righteous narrow road of life in spite of whatsoever the seemingly daunting challenges we face everyday and look up to God for His help and provision in all circumstances of life because when He intervenes in our life situations He satisfies us with what we cannot imagine or expect. If God gave Ruth Boaz a righteous man as her husband; Moses the opportunity to lead God’s people out of slavery; and Jesus resurrecting Him and to sitting Him at the right hand side of God’s throne - we too can expectantly look to God to intervene in a mighty way in our lives as well.
The meeting later ended with light refreshments giving time and opportunity for individuals and families to socialise and share about their lives with each other.
