Gujarati Church Christmas Celebration - Saturday 19 December 2009
Today, looking forward to the Christmas day - a blessed generation of the most highly Exalted One at THE GUJARATI CHURCH got together to worship HIM in Spirit and in Truth. Approximately 180 members participated in this THE GUJARATI CHURCH December-Christmas 2009 worship service. Rev Immanuel Christian led the service and the message was brought by Mr. Davidson Solanki reflecting on the thought of Christmas, God’s love for you and me – the birth of Jesus (His nature- a humble, approachable, courageous and a loving God).
Humble in His love for you and me as He chose to be born shrinking down, so small as to become an ovum, barley size visible by naked eye until it takes shape of a foetus inside a nervous teenager “making himself nothing… he humbled himself”. Approachable – as a God He became flesh and dwelt amongst us, opening our eyes to real reverence that children of God may approach Him as their loving Father, a Friend and not a distant deity. This humbling and approaching God took Courage to take a place among human beings who would greet Him with mixture of anger, hatred & scepticism; feeling helpless as any human father and watching His Son smeared with blood to face a harsh, cold world.
On the first Christmas, God in love gave the greatest and a very precious gift to mankind. He gave His only begotten Son - Jesus Christ! In the modern world Psychiatrists emphasize the need of to be loved and to love pointing to the deep void in our human hearts that unless it is filled by divine love men are restless!
Through this real gift of Christmas, God offers the Gift of Salvation-redemption from sin through faith in Jesus alone leading to eternal life -- shedding light on the mystery of life and equipping with the power to face life.
Kids at THE GUJARATI CHURCH did a special talent performance as they danced to some classic Christmas carols and conveyed Christmas wishes to the congregation.
Those visiting THE GUJARATI CHURCH the first time were welcomed, a time of family sharing (birthdays, marriage anniversaries and special happenings). Later after the worship service the talented Choir took on the stage to sing and play live the Gujarati Christian songs (Garba) & the Gujarati folk dance was performed on the floor by both young and old.
This evening finally concluded in a fellowship dinner-a time to socialise, meet and greet friends and loved ones. Indeed an evening that left a lasting impression in the heart and minds of all who were a part of it to be truly cherished for a long time, yes 19th December 2009, Saturday evening, St. John’s Church Hall, Wembley – the Gujarati Church celebrated the birth of Lord Jesus – indeed ‘today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord’.
